Check Physical Connections

 

  1. Check all physical connections on the modem and router to make sure the cables are secure and connected properly.
    1. Power Cable (Connected to power strip or wall receptacle)
    2. Ethernet Cable (Connects to Computer and modem/router)

 

 

Restart Equipment

 

  1. If all physical connections are connected securely and correctly then the next step is to restart the equipment
    1. Computer
      1. Start by restarting the computer. If the connection problem is resolved then do not move on to the next step.
    2. Router/Modem
      1. Unplug the modem/route from the power for 60 seconds. 
      2. After 60 seconds plug the equipment back in.
